Matt’s intellectual property and transactions practice has supported the development and commercialization of new technologies, products, and services in laboratories, factories, and computing systems around the world.

His experience ranges from working with scientists in labs of top research institutions developing medical devices, to walking factory floors in China with engineers deploying state of the art equipment, to protecting improvements to financial systems being used in banks across the country.  After working in house supporting the R&D function of a multi-billion dollar privately held company, Matt has joined the Wausau office of Ruder Ware.

At Ruder Ware Matt’s practice encompasses general business and intellectual property matters.  On the business side, he provides counsel on mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting and review, and data privacy and cybersecurity.  On the IP side, Matt supports clients in the development of protection strategies for new products and services in addition to preparing and prosecuting patents, trademark counseling and portfolio management, trademark prosecution, copyright matters, e-commerce and intellectual property licensing agreements, and intellectual property matters arising as part of business transactions.

Outside of law, Matt and his wife Afua share a deep love of food.  They can be found filling up their pantry with African spices, folding French omelets, hovering over eighteen hour ramen broths, or grilling up massive platters of Korean barbecue.  Since moving to Wausau, Matt and Afua have taken advantage of locally grown produce and livestock for homemade Neapolitan pizzas and American style barbecue.
